At least four people were killed after a passenger bus they were riding crashed into a tree in Sorsogon province before dawn Friday.
A police report said the incident involved a “PP Bus Line” (NOE-834) that slammed into an Acacia tree along Maharlika Highway in Bolo village in Matnog town at 1:45 a.m.
Killed on the spot were Mylene Caldoza, 22; Julito Borasio; and Boracio’s seven-year-old child who was not immediately named.
A radio dzBB report said a fourth passenger, Jonalyn Maravillas, died while undergoing treatment at a nearby hospital.
Other passengers were rushed to a nearby hospital for treatment.
An initial investigation showed the bus driven by one Jobert Ortega was on its way from Manila to Ormoc in Leyte when the accident occurred.
A separate report on dzRH radio said Ortega surrendered to authorities and now faces charges of reckless imprudence resulting in homicide, physical injuries and damage to property. — RSJ, GMANews.TV
